
Steven Decraene studied at the Royal Music Conservatory in Ghent and Antwerp and perfected himself amongst others with Ernest Schelle in Lyon and Jorma Pamula in Saint-Petersburg. He was also inspired by meetings with Jos Van Immerseel, Florian Heyerick, Filip Rathé, Dirk Brossé and the late Ignaas De Lil.
Next to being the conductor of GUSO, Steven Decraene is the artistic leader of Pulsar Gent and Artis Dulcedo in Bruges. He also worked as a guest conductor at the Flemish Radio Orchestra, the Plovdiv State Orchestra of Bulgaria, the Phoenix Ensemble, the Joven Orquestas of Guatemala-City, Sinfonieorkester des Norrlands Operan in Sweden and the International Symphony Orchestra of Lviv in Ukrain where for the upcoming years, a partnership is established. In 2015, a project with the Pilsnr Filharmonie in the Czech Republic was on the programme.
