De speech van onze geliefde voorzitter Hannah deed al vermoeden dat er veel in deze nieuwsbrief zal staan. Omdat we nog heel even onder onze parasol kunnen zitten, probeer ik alles zo beknopt mogelijk te schrijven. Veel leesplezier!
A van applaus
Of we woensdag applaus in ontvangst mogen nemen of niet blijft een raadsel. De zekerheden in het leven zijn:
- Woensdag repetitie onder de stadshal (Emile Braunplein)
- Repetitie van 18u tot 20u30, kom allemaal tegen 17u45 zodat je tijd hebt om rustig uit te pakken en je spullen veilig weg te leggen in een lokaal in het conservatorium.
- Kan je niet op tijd zijn? Laat dit dan zo snel mogelijk aan Marieke weten, en laat haar ook weten om hoe laat je wel op de repetitie kan zijn. marieke@guso.be of +32 493 79 39 56.
- Wij zorgen voor pupiters en stoelen, maar breng allemaal een wasknijper of twee mee. De Belgische wind is onvoorspelbaar.
B van boete
Onze allerliefste penning Annelies kan geen boetes uitschrijven, maar ze kan wel heel boos kijken. Dit doet ze vanaf volgende week naar alle wanbetalers. Ga in je mail op zoek naar de schuldenlijst en betaal al jouw schulden zo snel mogelijk. Annelies en haar mooie glimlach danken u.
C van cerebraal
Hersenen, mankracht en enthousiasme. Dat is er allemaal nodig om het GUSO bestuur draaiende te houden. Zoals elk jaar is het bijna tijd om afscheid te nemen van een paar bestuurders. Dit betekent gelukkig wel dat het bestuur ook een paar nieuwe leden zal mogen verwelkomen. Zie jij het wel zitten om volgend jaar een grote of kleine bestuursfunctie op jouw te nemen? Stuur dan een mailtje naar hannah@guso.be.
Als je eerst graag wat meer informatie hebt over wat zo’n functie precies inhoudt, staat het hele bestuur voor je klaar om je hier meer over te vertellen.
D van dromen
Dromen doen we elk semester opnieuw: van uitverkochte zalen! Om deze droom te bereiken komt er weer een heus promo-plan. Heel binnenkort verschijnen er op de GUSO-Facebookgroep links naar online lijsten. Hierop kan je jouw naam zetten bij één of meerdere flyer- of plakmomenten. Het zou super zijn als iedereen minstens één keer zijn naam invult op een flyer- of plakmoment.
Woensdag na de repetitie onder de stadshal (die lekker vroeg gedaan zal zijn), gaan we gezamenlijk op plaktocht. We decoreren een paar cafés en onderzoeken daarna of die mooie cafés ook lekkere drankjes serveren.
E van etentje
Een etentje met je sectie is de mooie prijs die de winnaars van onze ticketwedstrijd zullen ontvangen. Het enige wat je moet is met je sectie procentueel gezien het meeste tickets verkopen. Het kan bijna niet eenvoudiger. Omdat de ticketverkoop voor onze concerten in Minard extern beheerd wordt, tellen alleen de verkochte tickets voor het concert van 7 mei in de Christus Koningkerk mee. Spoor dus heel jouw achterban aan om jouw naam in te vullen bij de opmerkingen wanneer ze tickets kopen.
F van Facebooklikes
2441 is het huidige aantal likes van de GUSO facebookpagina. Als jullie er in slagen om tegen de GUSO BBQ op 29 juni 2018 2600 likes voor de GUSO facebookpagina te verkrijgen, dan zorgt voorzitter Hannah voor een mooie tegenprestatie.
Voorstellen voor tegenprestaties kan je indienen via onze virtuele ideeëndoos.
G van gebroeders
Op vrijdag 4 mei komt het studentenorkest van Leiden naar Gent. Om er voor te zorgen dat ze de tijd van hun leven beleven in het prachtige Gent, gaat het GUSO een avondje met hen op stap. Animatie heeft een leuke avond gepland, houdt die avond dus zeker vrij.
H van hulpjes
Voor het concert van 7 mei in de Christus Koningkerk zijn we op zoek naar een tiental helpende handen (ofja, twintig handen van tien verschillende mensen). Ken jij iemand die tickets wil controleren, onze VIP’s naar hun plaats wil begeleiden of een ander taakje op zich wil nemen in ruil voor een gratis ticket? Mail dan snel naam en e-mailadres van die geweldige persoon naar judith@guso.be.
I van inspirerend
Hoe het kleine GUSET is uitgegroeid tot een prachtig strijkkwintet. En dat slechts op enkele jaren tijd. Na een slecht mopje met vervallen suikerbonen, is GUSET niet helemaal zeker of er veel publiek zal opdagen voor hun concert op maandag 23 april in Gent. Daarom doen ze graag een warme oproep aan alle GUSO’ers om te komen luisteren. Het programma beloofd alvast een heerlijke avond vol muzikale verrassingen. The speech of our beloved president made you suspect that I would have a lot of news to tell in this week’s letter. Because we still have a little bit of time in the sun left to enjoy, I will try to write everything as short as possible. Enjoy reading!
A van applaus
I cannot guarantee that we will get applause on Wednesday. But the next things are certain:
- Wednesday we will rehearse under de ‘Stadshal’ (Emile Braunplein)
- The rehearsal will be from 18h till 20h30. Please try to be there at 17h45 so that you have time to unpack and put your stuff away safely in a room in the conservatory.
- Cannot be there on time? Please let Marieke know as soon as possible. Also tell her the time you will arrive at the rehearsal so we know who to expect when. marieke@guso.be of +32 493 79 39 56.
- We will make sure that there are chairs and music stands, but please bring a clothes peg or two. The Belgian wind is unpredictable.

Our lovely head of treasury Annelies cannot write fines, but she can look very angry at all the people who have not paid their debts yet. She will start looking angry on Wednesday. Please look for the email with the ‘schuldenlijst’ en pay everything as soon as possible. Annelies and her beautiful smile will thank you.
C van cerebraal
Brains, manpower and enthusiasm. That’s what we need to keep the GUSO board working. At the end of the year, we sadly have to say goodbye to a couple of board members. Luckily this means that there will be room for new people to join the backbone of GUSO. Do you feel like you can contribute in a big or small way by taking on a function in the board? Send a mail to hannah@guso.be.

D van dromen
Dreaming is what we do at the end of each semester: of sold out concert halls! To accomplish this dream, we have made a very nice promo-plan. Very soon, an online link will appear on the Facebookgroup. Via this link, you can write your name at one or more flyer moments or poster stick moments. It would be great if everybody could come to these moments at least once.
Wednesday after rehearsal we’ll go to a couple of bars to stick some posters to the walls. Afterwards we’ll do some research as to wether or not these bars have good drinks or not.
E van etentje
A dinner party, that is the price that the winners of our ticketing competition will win. Al you have to do is sell as many tickets as possible. The section that sells the most tickets wins! The ticket sales for the concerts in Minard are arranged externally. That’s why only the tickets sold for the concert on May 7th at the Christus Koningkerk count for the competition. Just tell your audience to write down your name in the comment section when they buy their tickets and we will keep track of which section sells the most.

2441 is the current number of likes on the GUSO facebookpage. If you succeed in getting to 2600 likes by the GUSO barbecue on June 29th 2018, Hannah will do something in return.

On Friday May 4th, the student orchestra of Leiden (the Netherlands) is visiting Ghent. To make sure these students have the time of their lives, we are taking them out at night. Mark the date in your agenda. Our animation team is planning a lovely evening.

For our concert on May 7th in the Christus Koningkerk, we’re looking for some helping hands. Do you know someone who would love to help for an hour before the concert (with tickets, showing our VIPs their seats…) in exchange for a free ticket to the concert? The small GUSET has blossomed into a beautiful string quintet in just a couple of years. On Monday April 23th they’re playing a concert in Ghent.
