Er is zoveel lof over het orkest, de klank en de gedreven speelstijl dat nu wellicht iedereen het wel zal hebben gehoord, niet?
Voor zij die nog steeds niks hebben opgevangen: “Jullie waren allen samen, GE-WEL-DIG”
Dvorak 9 & Elgar cello concerto, lente 2018, voor altijd in een schoon kadertje in mijn hart, in dat schone kamertje met de heel goede herinneringen!
Wellicht ook in dat van velen onder u.
Mijn persoonlijke, bijzondere waardering nog even voor de logistieke ploeg, Mathijs en Siebe.
Vrij laat, nog zo flexibel, verdraagzaam om toch het onderste uit de kan te halen voor een betere klank in de Minardschouwburg.
Deze mentaliteit is van goudwaarde, kloppend hart voor een ensemble dat voor vuurwerk zorgt, en de harten van de mensen ook weer even sneller doet kloppen.

Hé het is oké… om tijdens de examens te ontspannen
En dat ontspannen kan je bijvoorbeeld doen door op een woensdagavond een pintje te gaan drinken (dat mag ook een glaasje fruitsap of een NA’tje zijn). Het is toegestaan om alleen op café te gaan, maar hoe meer GUSO-zielen, hoe meer vreugd. Post op Facebook gerust de vraag of er nog andere GUSO’ers graag met jou meegaan. Spreek een uur af, De Ploeg is the place to be et voila: ONTSPANNING!!!
Hé het is oké… om tijdens de examens niet elke dag Aïki Noodles te eten
Zoals elke examenperiode organiseert het GUSO een ware Pizzadate! We gaan dan met z’n alleen naar pizzeria Prima Donna in de Overpoort, waar de pizza’s vers, heerlijk en super goedkoop zijn. Omdat we graag met zo veel mogelijk GUSO-schatjes op date gaan, beslissen we via Doodle op welke dag de pizzadate zal plaatsvinden. Vul alle avonden in waarop jij mee pizza kan gaan eten en dan maakt team animatie binnenkort de datum bekend waarop het meeste GUSO’ers kunnen.
En vergeet niet: het zijn examens, maar eten moet je toch! De pizzadate duurt niet zo heel lang, voor de die hards gaan we na de pizza nog gezellig iets drinken.
Hé het is oké… om te dromen van zomer, zwemmen en BBQ
De examenperiode kan lang duren, maar we hopen heel hard dat jullie op vrijdag 29 juni de boeken mogen dichtslaan. Op die dag sluiten we het GUSO jaar officieel af met een BBQ en een feestje.
De BBQ start om 18u op het terrein van de Gekko aan de Watersportbaan (Yachtdreef 1).

Hé het is oké… om ook na afloop van de concerten voor GUSO-spam te zorgen
Jullie zijn het misschien al vergeten, maar de uitdaging om tegen 29 juni 2600 likes voor de Facebookpagina van het Gents Universitair Symfonisch Orkest te hebben is nog steeds bezig.
Op de BBQ volgt er een tegenprestatie van Hannah (en misschien ook wel de rest van het bestuur). Suggesties voor die tegenprestatie mag je nog altijd anoniem insturen via onze virtuele ideeëndoos.
Hé het is oké…om te hopen dat er een mooie foto van jou is
Wanneer de fotografen hun foto’s van de concerten doorsturen naar het bestuur geven we ze jullie ook zo snel mogelijk via allerlei online kanalen. Nog even geduld en dan kan je via je profielfoto weer laten zien wat voor een mooie klassieke muzikant(e) jij bent!
Hé het is oké… om jaloers te zijn op de meest sexy sectie
De 2e violen zijn de ultieme winnaars van de ticketwedstrijd en krijgen volgend semester een etentje met hun sectie cadeau! Team animatie neemt nog contact met jullie op om dat avondje vol verwennerij te plannen.
Op de tweede plaats staan de 1e violen. Zij winnen heerlijke cava voor hun hele sectie.
De derde plaats is voor de bassen. Een gratis GUSO-cocktail staat na de eerste repetitie in oktober op jullie te wachten.
Een dikke proficiat aan de strijkers die dit podium mooi gevuld hebben. Aan alle blazers en slagwerkers: volgende keer verwachten we jullie ook in de top drie!
Tot mijn grote spijt zijn we aan het einde van deze nieuwsbrief gekomen. Ik heb helaas niets meer achter de hand om jullie uitstelgedrag mee te voeden (tenzij je morgen mee naar de Ploeg gaat natuurlijk). Het GUSO-bestuur wenst jullie allemaal super mega veel succes met de komende examens. We zijn er zeker van dat jullie de proffen even goed gaan bespelen als jullie instrumenten. Raak hun gevoelige snaar, blaas hen van hun stoel en geef er vooral een lap op! Yes GUSO can! 😀

Hey it’s okay… to enjoy Steven’s poetic texts
There has been so many praises about the orchestra, the sound, the driven style of playing, that everybody has probably heard the compliments by now, right?
For those of you who haven’t heard yet: “You were all great, together, A-MA-ZING”. Dvorak 9 & Elgar cello concerto, spring 2018, for ever in a nice picture frame in my heart, in that beautifull chamber filled with only the very best of memories!
I guess in the chambers of your hearts too.
My personal, special appreciation again for our logistics team, Mathijs and Siebe.
Pretty late, yet flexible as ever and tolerable for crazy ideas, they gave it all to create the best possible sound we could have at Minard.
This mentality is worth more than gold, the beating heart of an ensemble that brings fireworks onto the stage, and that makes the audience’s hearts beat a whole lot faster.

Hey it’s okay… to relax during exams
You can relax by going for a drink on Wednesday evening, with your great GUSO friends for example. Just put the following post on Facebook and enjoy: “Hey, I’m going to de Ploeg tonight, who wants to join? Let’s say around 9 o’clock. “
Hey it’s okay… to no teat Aïki Noodles every day while studying
Just like very exam period, we will organize the one and only GUSO pizzadate! An evening at pizzeria Prima Donna (at the Overpoort) where fresh, delicious and cheap pizza will be served. Because we want to go on a date with as many of our GUSO-sweethearts as possible, we would like you all to fill in all the evenings you’re available on this Doodle. We will choose the date with the most people available and communicate it to everyone later.
Don’t forget that studying is important, but eating is more important. The pizzadate does not take up all evening, but we will go to a bar afterwards with everybody who wants.
Hey it’s okay… to dream of summer, swimming and barbecue
Exams can take forever, the longest month of the year, but we hope that everyone can clos his/her books on Friday June 29th. That day, we’re having the notorious GUSO BBQ to end the year with a bang! The BBQ starts at 18h on the domain of Gekko near the Watersportbaan (Yachtdreef 1, Gent).

Remember the challenge of getting 2600 Facebook likes for our GUSO Facebookpage? Well, if you manage to get that number by June 29th, Hannah (and maybe even the rest of the GUSO board) will do something in return. As soon as we receive the concert photos from the photographers, we will send them to you. Just a little more patience, and then you can show the world once again what kind of beautiful classical musician you are!
Hey it’s okay… to be jealous of the most sexy section
Because the second violins are the winners of the ticketing competition! They get a private dinner for their section at the beginning of next semester. Team animation will contact you to plan the night full of treats.
In second place are the first violins. They win lovely cava to drink with their entire section.
The basses are third. They get a free cocktail at the first cocktail evening of next semester!
Unfortunately, this is already the end of this newsletter. I don’t have any more news to feed your procrastination habits. The GUSO-board wishes you all a lot of luck with your exams! We are sure that you will blow the professors away with your knowledge in the same way we blew away our audience with beautiful music! Yes you can!
