De kleur van het gat waarin je na de stage gevallen bent. Maar kijk, een lichtpuntje, de repetitie van woensdag is in zicht. En die zal er als volgt uitzien:
19u30: Vioolconcerto van Sibelius

Denk ook nog eens aan de wijze woorden van Steven: luister elke dag 10 minuten naar de muziek die we spelen mét partituur. Het zal je ogen openen en ervoor zorgen dat je de muziekstukken veel beter begrijpt. Alle muziek kan je nog steeds hier beluisteren.
Rood
De kleur van het GUSO logo én van de server van het Wicket ticketsysteem die vanaf morgen op volle toeren draait voor het GUSO. Vanaf morgen zullen namelijk de tickets voor onze concerten in de Christus Koningkerk en de Bijloke beschikbaar zijn. De link naar de ticketverkoop zal je vinden op onze website en hij zal ook op Facebook verschijnen.
Geel
De kleur van glorie voor de sectie die het meeste tickets verkoopt. Zoals elk semester doen we een heuse ticketwedstrijd. Spoor al je sympathisanten aan om bij het kopen van hun tickets jouw naam bij de opmerkingen te schrijven en wie weet wint jouw sectie wel een mooie prijs!
Oranje
De kleur van waarschuwingen. Lieve vrienden, we hebben slecht nieuws: Na de vorige GUSO repetitie ontving de universiteit klachten van geluidsoverlast rond de Therminal. De universiteit gaf ons een allerlaatste waarschuwing. Als er nogmaals klachten komen worden we geschorst! Dat wil zeggen bye bye subsidies en bye bye repeteren in de Therminal. Iedereen kan zich wel inbeelden hoe desastreus dat zou zijn voor de werking van ons orkest.
Om overlast in de toekomst te vermijden, hebben we een heus actieplan uitgewerkt:
- 23u30: last call en de bar wordt opgeruimd
- 23u50: iedereen gaat rustig naar buiten én blijft niet aan de deur van de Therminal staan (want dit zorgt voor geluidsoverlast, loop meteen door naar de Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat)
- 00u00: de laatste GUSO’er is weg in en rond de Therminal en we gaan allemaal samen naar Café de Omgekeerde Wereld voor de voortzetting van onze baravond.
De Omgekeerde wereld is tof: er is gezellig kaarslicht, een pint kost slechts 1.90 euro én je kan twee biertjes van de maand krijgen voor 5 euro. Er is zelfs een speciale kamer waarin rokers lekker warm hun verslaving kunnen onderhouden. Als dat geen goede optie is weet ik het ook niet!
Het bestuur hoopt op jullie goede medewerking bij de uitvoering van dit actieplan. We maken van de post-GUSObar-café-avondjes een leuke traditie (zoals dat ook was in lang vervlogen GUSO-tijden) en zo houden we de universiteit en slapende buren tevreden!
Grijs
De kleur van luxe (wat het Internet je allemaal wel niet probeert wijs te maken), want deze week kan je niet 1 maar 3 avonden genieten van GUSO-gezelschap.
- Woensdag 8/10 is het repetitie, je weet wel… om 19u28 allemaal op je stoel
- Donderdag 9/10 is het Lustrumquiz van het Kultureel Konvent. Help het GUSO om te laten zien dat we meer triviale weetjes kennen dan alle andere culturele verenigingen samen! Ga naar het Facebookevenement, laat van je horen door “Ik wil deelnemen” te posten en team sfeerbeheer zorgt ervoor dat je in een GUSO-quizploeg terecht komt.
Geen quizzer? Kom gerust tijdens de quiz langs voor een pint en een babbeltje!
- Vrijdag 10/10 is het onze semestriële trip naar de reisconcerten collega’s van het USO in Leuven. Dit jaar spelen ze Symfonie nr.4 – J. Brahms, Ouverture: Wilhelm Tell – G. Rossini en het Tubaconcerto in f – R. Vaughan Williams. Het beloofd een mooie avond te worden met een gezellige treinrit, een fantastisch concert en een gratis receptie (Met LEFFE) nadien. Zet je snel op aanwezig op dit Facebookevenement en geniet van het concert aan verminderde prijs (afhankelijk van het aantal GUSO’ers die mee gaan, maar sowieso minder dan 5 euro!
Wit
De kleur van feest want de KLARA TOP 100 staat weer voor de deur en zoals elk jaar willen we alle GUSO’ers aanmoedigen om voor hun favoriete klassieke muziek te stemmen. Wie weet levert het massaal stemmen ons wel een uitnodiging in de studio op. Dit is zeer goede reclame voor onze concerten én het is gewoon leuk om bij Greet en Mark in het radiohuis van Leuven op bezoek te gaan.
Hoe gaat het in z’n werk? Ga naar https://top100.klara.be/. Kies jouw 9 favoriete muziekstukken en vergeet in de categorie ‘Joie/passie’ zeker niet om op het Vioolconcerto: Allegro Ma Non Tanto van Sibelius te stemmen. Dien je top 9 in en schrijf bij ‘Heeft u een verhaal bij deze keuze’ jouw favoriete GUSO-herinnering/anekdote/verhaal. Zo weten de medewerkers van Klara hoe leuk we klassieke muziek wel niet vinden en dit kan ons dus die fameuze uitnodiging in de studio opleveren.

De kleur van vast vertrouwen dat jullie uiteraard hebben in het GUSO-bestuur. Toch houden wij van transparantie en openbaarheid van bestuur. Daarom kunnen jullie vanaf nu een korte samenvatting van elke bestuursvergadering vinden op de GUSO-website.
Er staat een drukke maar zeer leuke week voor de deur. Het GUSO helpt je weer uit de post-stage blues. Tot woensdag lieve vrienden!
Samenvattend is dat dus:

Red
Color of our GUSO logo and of the server of the Wicket Ticketing system that will process our ticket sales from tomorrow on. We will spread the link for buying tickets tomorrow on our website and on our Facebook age. Let’s sell out some concerts!
Yellow
The color of glory fort the orchestra section that sells the most tickets. Like every semester, there will be a competition between instrument groups. The section that sells the most tickets will receive an awesome price! Tell everybody who buys a ticket to mention your name in the comment section of the Wicket ticketing system and it will be registered as a ticket for your section.
Orange
The color of warnings. Dear friends, we have some bad news. After last rehearsal, the university received some serious noise complaints of us making noise outside the Therminal. We received a final warning. If there’s one more complaint, we will be suspended and cannot use the Therminal anymore. This would be a disaster for the orchestra, but we have made an action plan to make sure this doesn’t happen:
- 23h30: last call and cleaning up the bar
- 23h50: everybody goes outside, quitely and goes to the Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat. Do not stand outside the Therminal door, beceause this will cause noise.
- 00h00: the last GUSOer leaves the Therminal and we will all go to bar de Omgekeerde Wereld
This bar is really nice: it has candlelight, a beer is only 1.90 euro and if you buy 2 beers of the month, it will only cost 5 euro! There’s even a special room for smokers, so they don’t have to go outside in the cold to smoke. Seems like a great plan to me!
We hope that everybody will cooperate so we can keep the university and the sleeping neighbors happy.
Grey
The color of luxury (or at least that’s what the Internet told me), because there’s 3 nights full of GUSO this week.
- Wednesday October 8th we have rehearsal, 19h28 on your chair for tuning.
- Thursday October 9th Lustrumquiz of the Kultureel Konvent. Help GUSO to show everyone we’re the smartest orchestra of them all. Do you like a good quiz? Go to the Facebookevent and post ‘I want to participate’ on the wall. The animation team will make sure you can be part of a GUSO team in the Quiz.
If you don’t like to participate in the quiz, you can also come by the Theminal, have a beer and support the GUSO-quiz-teams.
- Friday October 10th we’re going to Leuven to listen tot he concert of the Leuven University Orchestra. They will play Symfonie nr.4 – J. Brahms, Ouverture: Wilhelm Tell – G. Rossini and the Tubaconcerto in f – R. Vaughan Williams. It will be a lovely night with a cosy trainride, a great concert and a free reception afterwards (with Leffe beers!) Go to the Facebookevent, RSVP and enjoy a great concert for less then 5 euro!

The color of partying, because the Klara top 100 is coming closer. Every year, classical music radio station Klara lets it’s listeners choose the 100 best classical music pieces. We would like to encourage all of you to vote for your favorite pieces. If we all vote, we might be invited to the studio during the top 100! This would be great promo for our concerts and it’s really fun to go to the radio studio.
So how do you vote? Go to https://top100.klara.be/. Choose your 9 favorite classical music pieces and don’t forget to choose the Sibelius Violinconcerto (In Dutch: Vioolconcerto: Allegro Ma Non Tanto) in the category ‘Joie/passie’. After choosing your 9 pieces, you have to fill in your contact details to verify you’re human. One last important step is to write something in under ‘Heeft u een verhaal bij deze keuze’. You can write a fun story/anecdote/memory that you have of playing with GUSO or just anything you like. This is our way of letting Klara know that there’s also you people enjoying classical music in Flanders and this part might get us invited to the studio.

The color of trust that you all have in the GUSO-board. But we also like transparency. Therefore you can find a short summary of every board meeting on our website. Unfortunately this is not in English, but if you like to know what the board talks about in meetings, you can come to us after rehearsal and ask us all about it!
So, we have a busy week ahead of us that can definitely help you to get rid of the post-rehearsal weekend blues. See you all on Wednesday!
